A potential game changer in identifying Alzheimer's Disease?
Scientists discovered a potential "game changer" diagnostic test to detect a possible occurrence of Alzheimer's Disease.

Up to date, treating such illness requires expensive procedures and machines like PET scan and spinal taps before identifying the patient has developed such disease.

What Is Alzheimer's Disease?

Alzheimer's Disease is a degenerative disease where in the cognitive function of an older individual is gradually diminish until he forgets everything from basic functions of life such as urinating and socializing.

The researchers from the University of Rochester, Georgetown University and UC Irvine conducted a study of a group of adults aged over 70 years by getting a blood sample until they consolidated 10 common fats or lipids which was very low in those 53 subjects of the study that five years ago had developed Alzheimer's Disease or about to develop it against those 53 healthy patients that didn't manifest any symptoms of cognitive degeneration.

That way, scientists found the 10 bio-markers with 90% accuracy when they tested their theory with the new subjects.

Advantage

This medical breakthrough can provide cheap and reliable diagnostic exam on early detection, perhaps, prevention of developing Alzheimer's Disease.

But, still, it needs larger clinical testing before presenting out to the public.
