The Day My Pet Dog Died

Cupid had been a good friend to me since my uncle brought him on our boarding house when I was at Baguio City by that time for studying, and being in college especially during freshman days gave you no option but being alone, so Cupid and I became best friends.

He was a very small puppy (the photo can tell you how cute he was), fluffy and light to carry with (but I do not bring in school). I used to feed him with our leftovers (hahaha... poor cupid) and added with sardines and sayote from our neighbor. During the cold nights, I wrapped him with used blanket and sometimes I used old clothes that was bought by my uncle at wagwagan. At day time before I went to school, I washed him with warm water and soap and let him stay inside the boarding house.

No joy can replace such act and Cupid was trying to beat my loneliness...... until my graduation came.

I was so sad and trying to think that I should bring him to province but my uncle did not allow me because there was no other loyal dog to guard the boarding house.

One day, my cousin sent me a text message about Cupid that he was having something in his eyes, maybe an infection he got from other dogs when he was captured a few days ago. He became weak and showed a loss of appetite to eat. His fluffy body had started to shed off and just chose to remain in the stock room. He stayed there until he died.
He was still 5 months old

It was very unfortunate that I was not there that day and even the day when he was buried. I can still remember that one of days of my speech in the classroom, I talked about him, discussed about dog's abilities and loyalty to his owner. I go to pet shop sometimes to look for what kind of dog Cupid is. But then I realized that nothing can compare the company he shared to me during my loneliness.
